UCLA Geffen Academy

Los Angeles, CA

At the UCLA Geffen Academy Middle & High School in Los Angeles, we worked with an existing site, transforming the outdoor spaces into student learning and gathering areas. A dining court was created under shade sails while an outdoor performance stage and student gathering space were designed under a large Tipuana tree, surrounded by ornamental grasses. The entry sequence includes terraced wood benches flanking the main stair, with Tristania trees planted in sweeps of grasses with accents of agaves. The lush landscape welcomes students at the drop off zone while maintaining visibility into and out of the site for parents and staff.
