Rancho Dulce is Pamela Burton’s own residence in Ojai, California. The garden serves as her working laboratory of garden design, where she can actively experiment with new ideas and materials. The garden itself depicts the idea of layers of cultivation within the civilized wilderness. The first layer is the Topa Topa mountain range around the perimeter of the Ojai valley. Within that layer are the orange groves, within which the residence is enclosed with a series of walls, based on the ubiquitous dry rock walls throughout the Ojai valley.
